Pathetic Presentation

came across a news article in TOI

I could visualize the state stall. There was one presentation by Delhi Govt in Kitakyushu. they wanted to have some collaboration. May be they wanted money for investment, if not grants in charity. What they had was an opportunity to stand equal. But, they missed it. I was invited in the party which was hosted by the Kitakyushu local govt. Dinner was cattered by a Japanese group of Bharateeya origin. The owner of the chain of restaurants had arrived but was busy with all the officials. may be in promoting his flourishing business in Japan. There was only one Bharateeya official who thought of interacting with the local official. Rest were just trying to enjoy the food and drink which had been spread out for them. Some became so intoxicated that they started using foul laguages for the Japanese ladies in the hall, knowing that nobody was understanding them. Few weere trying to flirt with ladies.
i asked few things to one of them, who appeared in sense. He was supposed to be an artist in the group. What ended up was that they were not bothered about any art but only about articles. It looks that they were annoyed if there was any visistor and irritated if there was some qeustion. They did not have any detail of the subject they were presenting. He had few complains too. like, TA was not proper and treatment was partial so on. There was a Bhangra group which had come to perform. Even they felt that they had been underpaid and more money was siphoned to other pockets. They were happy that they just had to dance for 15 min to become part of the group and travel to Japan for 7 days.
It did not appear that anybody was aware about the purpose of the trip. may be they had been told but they did not bother about it any way. i heard that Japanese local govt had taken care of funding of the trip. so nobody was bothered about the financial burden. I was ashamed of the attitude which was displayed at such a meet.
i was called for dinner but there was nothing much vegetarian, something which i think Bharat can be proud of, as it is turning out to be a fashion in many places. i took some fruits and salad and left the place after interacting with some students whom is had seen for the first time.
not difficult to imagine what might have happened in Shanghai.
