I loved his position where he tries to correct the financial difficulties in his ways for some time. when he saw that he is not able to do some which he wishes and only remained as puppet in hands of majority whom he considered were not logical. he left the position. what ever may be the background but apparently, Good stand taken by him.

something interesting from Pakistan

This is one good news which appeared about Pakistan since long time, in economic times today
http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/News-Politics/Nation/Pakistan-turns-down-World-Bank-ADB-loan/articleshow/6785415.cms

it seems Pakistan does not want loan. it wants to rebuild itself with whatever resources it has got. it is of another matter that instead of loan it wants aid. it has refused $ 2 billion loan but did not turn down similar amount of loan. It notthe time the intention of Pakistan is to discuss. i would like to point out something interesting. what was more surprising was the reaction of bank people
"The government's decision not to use the loan of $3 billion has really perturbed both the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, as their targets to market their loans in Pakistan would suffer," sources in both the banks told the daily.
so typical of soodkhors. thinking of increasing height of their mansion taking rubble of neighbor.

Regarding UID project

It appeared in The Hindu today
http://www.thehindu.com/opinion/lead/article839917.ece?homepage=true

few extracts
It raises four points against project.

1) the project would necessarily entail the violation of privacy and civil liberties of people.

the justification given is as followed
A foundational understanding in the study of individual freedoms,....is that consequence-independent absolute rights are rather hard to defend. Hence, the demand to trade-off one freedom for another is an untenable demand. Each freedom, independently, has an instrumental value, and the loss of one freedom undermines the individual's overall capability to expand up on other freedoms.

my comments: Here the trade which is cited is privacy and security. What will the information available in UID, which will question the privacy of the individual. and who is interested in hiding the information? Location, properties, relation, criminal record- are these the information which you want to hide? What is wrong if greater transparency is brought in the public life. A right citizen will not be afraid of telling facts. Only critical information should be refrained from going public. they remain internal and external security aspect of the nation, business and political strategy a nd some more similar matters. apart from that more it it available in public more responsible citizen will become. going for the collection of information i think nobody can stop government from collecting such information. When Government wanted to collect information regarding presence of muslims in army it did it. why to waste extra expenditure on such survey if they can be made available in single go. These will lead to formation of policies. one can oppose policy. that does not mean that one should oppose the survey itself. during cesus too many data is taken. Is author going to question those data too. even they can be termed as violation of privacy.

then there is another justification pointed out
police and security forces, if allowed access to the biometric database, could extensively use it for regular surveillance and investigative purposes, leading to a number of human rights violations.

So who is afraid of investigation. people may talk of misusing the law by police. but that logic can be applied for any law. does that mean that all such law should be scrapped. there should be law to punish police, who misuse it. but that also means that it can be used. let us give it a chance. It is certainly not undemocratic. nothing much will be achieved by demonizing it.

2)it remains unclear whether biometric technology — the cornerstone of the project – is capable of the gigantic task of de-duplication. The Unique Identification Authority of India's (UIDAI) “Biometrics Standards Committee” has noted that retaining biometric efficiency for a database of more than one billion persons “has not been adequately analysed” and the problem of fingerprint quality in India “has not been studied in depth”.

3)Third, there has been no cost-benefit analysis or feasibility report for the project till now.
My comments: when 70000 crores can be spent for uplifting national image, what is wrong in spend little about a project which has multiple purpose even in future.

4)Finally, the purported benefits of the project in the social sector, such as in the Public Distribution System (PDS), are largely illusive. The problem of duplicate ration cards is often hugely exaggerated. Even so, some States have largely eliminated duplicate ration cards using “lower” technologies like hologram-enabled ration cards.

My comments: when hologram enabled ration card was issues it was to make it proper. if there is any offort to make it better why there is question regarding that. it is known that migrants are not there in their native to enjoy the PDS. so there should be alternative way to implement this. to say that duplicate ration card problem is exaserated means that the problem exists.

there is a political angle too. Like any other The Hindu article the corner stone of the article has to be Hindu bashing for that BJP bashing and for that NDA bashing. that is one of the standard merit of regular columnist in The Hindu. This article fits the bill. so it find the root of problem in NDA rule.

The first phase of today's UID project was initiated in 1999 by the NDA government in the wake of the Kargil War. Following the reports of the “Kargil Review Committee” in 2000, and a Group of Ministers in 2001, the NDA government decided to compulsorily register all citizens into a “National Population Register” (NPR) and issue a Multi-purpose National Identity Card (MNIC) to each citizen. To ease this process, clauses related to individual privacy in the Citizenship Act of 1955 were weakened through an amendment in 2003. In sum, the ground work for a national ID project was completed by 2003 itself.

The parallels between the UPA's UID and the NDA's MNIC are too evident to be missed, even as the UPA sells UID as a purely “developmental” initiative. The former chief of the Intelligence Bureau, A.K. Doval, almost gave it away recently, when he said that UID, originally, “was intended to wash out the aliens and unauthorised people. But the focus appears to be shifting. Now, it is being projected as more development-oriented, lest it ruffle any feathers”.

it has become fashion to put everything one considers wrong in the basket of the political opponent. so there is nothing surprising to read insertion of this logic.

My visit to Kyoto center

I have heard a lot bout the scenic beauty of Kyoto. it is not very far away but due to some or other reason i could not go there for sight seeing. Last Sunday I got chance to visit Kyoto Sai center. Ishida san took me by his car. We reached early so we decided to visit a temple. it is temple with many arched. There is a way which leads to the top of the hill. it has many arches. That is its beauty.

later it was time at Sai center. I had three hours for teaching Gayatri mantra. So i thought of listening it individually and teach of any thing has gone wrong. There were only few common mistakes. There were few mistakes which i became more aware this time. it seems people appreciated this type of interaction. i did not know what was special. I have received some mails also in that regard. i don't know if that is a formal appreciation or reality. whatever it may be. It was His plan and all the praise is for Him.
I shared one incident with people there. It was Vijayadashami day so i talked about Mother Durga. The fight was very long long episode to narrate in the small time available. so i took one incident. That was the time when the Asura was about to fight with Devi. before that Devi had taken multiple form to annihilate demonic force. so the demon complained that Devi was with so many form while he was alone. so Devi replied. "It is you who see many, saints and sages see me as one."
i took this statement and then elaborated that. to see many in unity is the vision of of demon and to see the one in many is the vision of saint.
with that it is left to us to decode what we are. certainly there is demonic quality in us in smaller or greater extent. it is the anhilation of that demonic quality which mother finishes in this war which is called vijayadashami.

Trend in science

This article was put up by Nomura san (Assistant Professor) of this lab. I liked it.
http://cenblog.org/the-editors-blog/2010/10/it%E2%80%99s-not-the-money-stupid/

few highlights

The culture of academic research has shifted over the past 50 years from research evaluation based on teaching, creativity, and productivity to one based simply on the amount of money (often now called “resources”) raised.

1) A number of factors have played a role in this change:
the “business model” for universities,
2) an increased willingness to accept greed as a virtue in our society and as a measure of success, and
3) a desire for an easy “objective” measure of something that is otherwise difficult to quantify.

the final decision to fund really comes from project officers who have often become remote from the frontiers of research and often fall prey to the fad of the month. It is also true that the best grant-swingers are those who are willing shamelessly to hype their research and their field—truth and modesty be damned.

The agencies, forever seeking more funding from the government, also keep inventing an alphabet soup of new programs.

....potentially even more damaging trend is a growing expectation by universities that
1)faculty should help fund operations not only through overhead from research grants, but also
2) through the generation of intellectual property (IP).
3) to generate patents and find partners to license them, or, even better,
4) to nucleate new start-up companies.
...universities are hiring highly paid administrators—with visions of Warfarin and Gatorade dancing in their heads—to head technology commercialization efforts. These are intended not only to generate additional funds for the university, but also to demonstrate to the public the “economic value” of the university to society. These kinds of activities have even been described as “critical to the mission of a university.”

If working closely with students and doing long-term fundamental research is not the goal and money is the important thing, there are more lucrative professions than academic ones for them to pursue.

....the perceived importance of money in science has led to a public backlash on issues like climate change and chemical toxicity, with the feeling that scientists are pushing these areas to get funding and not necessarily because they believe all that they report. This indeed is tragic.

be aware

http://www.indianexpress.com/news/constituencies-with-sizable-muslim-population-be-dereserved/698687/

there were two different points raised in that article
"It is surprising and very sad to note that wherever minority population is more than 20-25 per cent, sometimes 30 per cent, these constituencies in Parliament and in the (state) Assembly have been reserved," he said.

I wonder if that was the criteria for reservation of the seat. seat reservation was done based on the SC ST population. now saying that due to this reservation Muslims are not getting representation same can be told for the upper caste people too. so what is the point of complain. so where is the idea of putting this reservation. It would be better if the whole reservation system is hauled up.

The next point which was brought up in the article was
"By embracing to some other religion or by getting converted into other religion his social status is not converted. Person converts to only his concepts and thought but his socio-economic status or political status remains the same," he contended.
But that was the axactly the philosophy for conversion. isn't it? for conversion socio-political status was given as the reason. now it shows that the reason was not good. does that mean that conversion was not a good idea. thoughts can lead to such a point too. If people are so interested in claiming the space reserved for SC St then one can reconvert to their religion to enjoy the status of SC ST.

somebody is talking facts

http://www.thehindu.com/opinion/op-ed/article818314.ece

i was surprised how The Hindu allowed it to be published. That is Subramanium Swami. so typical of him.

there are some points which are often pointed out but there are few less known. later ones are quoted here.
1) the Supreme Court judgment [reported in (1994) 6SCC376] in which the court.... held that “Hindus must bear the Cross for it.” This was an extraordinary judicial observation and has profound implications for all communities whenever religious premises are destroyed.

very nicely put without hurting anybody in particular. but everyone need not be hiding behind the words. it simply means that for every temple brought down all Muslims have to bear the cross.

2) A fundamental question arises: Can a temple and a masjid be considered on a par as far as sacredness is concerned? Relying on two important apex judgments that hold the field today, the answer is: No. A masjid is not an essential part of Islam religion, according to a majority judgment of a Constitution Bench of India's Supreme Court (op.cit. 1994), whereas according to the House of Lords, U.K. (1991), the temple is always a temple even if in disuse or ruins.

the first one being Ismail Farooqui vs Union of India case [reported in (1994) 6 SCC 376],
The Constitution Bench then rejected this contention, stating: “The correct position may be summarised thus. Under Mohammedan law applicable in India, title to a mosque can be lost by adverse possession. A mosque is not an essential part of the practice of the religion of Islam and namaz (prayer) can be offered anywhere, even in the open. Accordingly, its acquisition is not prohibited by the provisions in the Constitution of India”(para 82).

and the second is regarding sale of a Nataraja temple by a farmer to a dealer in UK

"On February 13, 1991, when I (Subramaniam Swami) was Union Law Minister, the landmark judgment dismissing the buyer's final appeal [see (1991) 4 All ER 638] was delivered. The Bench consisting of Justices Purchas, Nourse, and Leggatt concluded: “We therefore hold that the temple is acceptable as party to these proceedings and that it is as such entitled to sue for the recovery of the Nataraja” [page 648 para g].

focus please

i was watching some of the videos of on saicast.org. that was alwars's festival. there were two sets of videos. one with speech and other with pooja. i wanted to watch pooja part. what i noticed that along with visual there was lot of instrument and vocal background was added. i dont know what was the purpose of that music. if somebody wants to listen music they can listen as such. i dont know what was in mind of the person who made it. do they think that mantras are not interesting to hear. ar they think that everybody may not understand it. people go to see pooja because of those mantras. who says that everyone understand the music forget liking it. when it is mentioned that it is about pooja and only 10 min is given to you one should give only pooja.
now it has become trend to give some music to any happening. give commentary to the statements. and item numbers in movie. it just shows that you dont believe in the power of what was there. can't they focus on what they have to do.
anyway i dont have control over that. i should also restrain myself from commenting on it

contradictions?

now a days
capitalists talk of socialist language and socialist policies are like that of capitalist. robbers indulge in charity and charity organizations are finding loopholes to loot. businessman claim to have the practical wisdom and teacher concentrate on payslips.
there is no contradiction in these. there are no boundaries. there is only only one God money. there is only one scale money there is one marker money. look from any side that is only in focus of every act. if you have it then you are fine. if you dont have it, who you are?

itellectual corruption 2

how nice it was the time when the worker just did the job without much in interfering in policy making.businessman claimed to be business man and a teacher did only teaching. ruler was just ruling good or bad whatever was his way. every section had a goal. workers were the engines of movement. business man was responsible for circulation. ruler was for orderliness and intellectual was custodian of the knowledge. now every is getting mixed up. they were interdependent. so they maneuvered in their space rarely they crossed the boundaries. and whenever they crossed it was disaster.
the change is more stark now. what is the reason. suddenly the definition itself changed. all the power was vested in money all the value was infused in money. that has changed the profession of everyone. poverty was told as curse. every one was told have only one aim- to be richer and richer.
so work or power or the knowledge was evaluated in terms of how much money it could generate. these have led to corruption in these field. of all three mentioned intellectual corruption is most harmful. if somebody does a shoddy work. intellectuals sit down and define what is shoddy and then punishment can be handed over. when a corruption in power occurs there are different power lobbies to expose it. again intellectuals will define the abuse of power and there are changes of punishment being handed over. what happens when a intellectual corruption occurs. who defines them? it is intellectuals who themsleves are required to define it.
fallacies lies here.
if they do something wrong they will sit and define it right and everyone has to accept it. because all society have kept them at the highest pedestal. nobody dare question them. it is happening everywhere now. i can tell more about science field. environmental issues are raised because they need lot of money to be pumped in the environmental studies. hype is created around every disease and money is pumped in medicine making. terrorist issues are kept alive as the weapon development industries can thrive. energy shortage is cried out. food scarcity is developed to increase the price.
one is supposed to follow their solution even while they are not sure. they have axioms with probabilities but solution have certainties.
what is to solution for the environmental problem. live with environment. feel the pain. feel the joy. don't cut away from nature. environmental problems will be getting down.
health problem should be solved with better way of living rather than pouring in medicine development. if you feel energy is less use less. if food is less learn to be hungry. people will always be there to terrorize you but be fearless.
no! such solution will not be accepted. they cannot feed the money hungry minds of the intellectuals. it will break their network of definition which rest on each other for their validity.

what should we do to set the things right?
dont pay intellectuals. teacher should not be rich. they should always remain poor. question will come who will teach? only the people who are interest in teaching will teach. those who are interested in money should take up direct business instead. they should not have any luxuries. their life should be very difficult and very strict rules should be clamped. highest punishment for the smallest of mistake should put.

that will show how many are for knowledge and how many for money? intellectual corruption will be checked to great extent. society will get on the right path. don't worry about development. it will happen at the natural pace. we don't need to hurry up for that. it is better to sustain what we have rather than destroy everything in name of development. but who will bell the cat? the time somebody oppose then they will be outcasted and decredited.

intellectual corruption

Every other day we find media splattered with some sort of curruption or other. many a times monetary corruption is highlighted. because for the present world money is everything and anybody swindelling money becomes sinner and criminal. sometimes light is also shone on moral corruption. but now there is a escape for that-raise the bar of morality or sometimes change the definition to suit the action. actually corrupt people and not so strong to raise the bar or change the definition. they depend on another set of people who are so called intellectuals. these are set of people who are never questioned. they have no responsibility towards society. they claim that what they have is intellect which sharpened by their personal effort. teachers helped them but they were not responsible. if teacher could do it then all the students of a teacher would have become successful. it does not happen so it is their individual glory. they are free to do what they want to do and the society should only be thankful for what is given by them. they claim to have solution for all the problem sof society, which in many case have came up due to previous solutions which they has provided to the society.
this is the field of intellectual corruption.
no lay person can oppose them. they have immunity. they claim that lay person cannot fathom to understand them. they can only be challanged by another intellectual. so outside this circle you believe that certain intellectual will fight the case for you. but it does not happen like that. inside intellectual circle they understand their provinsial ignorance. but they cannot tell this to outside the circle so many a times they indulge in false pretense of knowledge. they have certain axioms which cannot be challenged. by the time they argue the axioms become truth and at the end of it what they propose is proved because of the axiom.
they talk of probablity in when they talk of axiom. when they talk of their results and suggestions probablity is replaced by certainity.
if the solution does not appear convincing. they tell it louder and repeat it again and again. they seek the support of power in return of adjusting results in favour of power. so the intellectuals get the support of power.
people realized that power is absolutely corrupted and it cannot be believed. next saviour of the society came was the media. they told that they will save them. society beleieved them and then they too became pawn in the hand s of intellectualls.

Inspiring Farmer

this is the site which gives about Mr.Subhash Palekar

http://palekarzerobudgetnaturalfarming.com/home.html

He hold view which are similar to mine. i think there is lot to learn from him.

I read about different types of natural agriculture techniques. like vermiculture or rishi krishi. but what i feel is that even they are not the solution to the problem. the solution to the local problem lies locally. they need not be imported. so the farmer has to be a local researcher in present and also in the age old culture.

Microfinancin Firms and New Suicide Trend

There has been news from the Andhra Pradesh about some suicide cases which were due to non payment of loan from the micro-financing firms. There has been voices of concern from different quarters. Some have told to punish the microfinancing firm agents
http://www.deccanchronicle.com/hyderabad/suo-motu-case-against-lending-firms-160
while some have even called for ban on such firms
http://www.deccanchronicle.com/nellore/cpi-demands-ban-micro-finance-firms-936

These are knee jerk reactions and short term solutions. one should understand the real problem and go to the root cause.
what was the problem farmers faced in olden days. few can be listed
2) there were people who repeatedly borrowed money from the money lenders for investing in the farm. it was left to the honesty of the money lender. it must have supported the society for long time before it was accepted as system. but it was misused by few if not many and that pushed borrower in cycle of debt. some of them landed as bonded laborer for generations.
3)people thought one should save farmer from the clutches of the money lender. so banks were encouraged to lend money at lesser interest. in this process there was some fault to. banks were centralised and in many cases they did not understand the real need of farmers. major chunk of the loan was appropriated by the bigger farmers. really needy farmers did not even have enough documents to apply for the loan. apart from this this lead to populist measure by some politicians who announced loan melas and loan waiver in case of natural calamity destroying the crop.
4) subsidy was given on fertilizer and seeds were provided by governmen electricity was for irrigation was coming from central grid. even water canals were controlled by the central agencies. crop was bought by government. all these made farmers dependent on the goverment. they always looked at the goverment for next step. farmers lost their independence. in turn villages lost their independence.
5) bad does not come in a fearsome dress. do you remember abduction of Sita. it takes the form of golden dear and makes you loosen your guard. you even send way your protection away. then comes the rakshasa in form of a sage. there too sita had a chanse to protect herself. she should not have crossed the laksman rekha. but she crossed and then she suffered for an year for her mistake in the land of Ravana. Thank God she had Ram as her savior. but what about others
here the bad came in form of microfinace. the role of the moneylenders were taken over by these. the problem will repeat. history will repeat itself.

what are solutions?
make farmer independent for seed fertilizer and water sources. tell him to recycle the seed. tell him to generate manure in the village. tell hm to conserve water. government should focus on catching hoarders and black marketing persons. government should focus on the storage of food at local levels in village and taluka level. for water problem ponds should be dug in every village. independent village should be given incentives and promoted.
one cannot avoid natural calamities. but if they are regular happening then government can prepare itself and the people for it. such action will keep these money borrowing habit at the bay. don't eliminate such financing organizations but reduce dependence on them.

Western lifestyles plundering the tropics

this was reported in the Hindu

http://www.thehindu.com/opinion/op-ed/article828761.ece

WWF report shows resources are being used at 1.5 times the rate nature can replace them — but long-term decline of animal life appears to have been halted.

The Earth's population is using the equivalent of 1.5 planets' worth of natural resources, but the long-term decline of animal life appears to have been halted, a WWF report shows.

The latest Living Planet report, published on Wednesday by the conservation group, also reveals the extent to which modern Western lifestyles are plundering natural resources from the tropics at record levels.

The report shows that the overall health of animal species — considered an important indicator of the health of ecosystems — has remained roughly constant since the beginning of this decade, after at least three decades of steady decline.

However the global figure masks a growing gap between the temperate zones to the north and south of the equator. Since 1970, richer countries in the temperate zones have enjoyed a 30 per cent rise in populations of the more than 2,500 different mammal, bird, reptile, amphibian and fish species monitored — largely because of improvements to water and air quality and conservation work. Tropical zones, in contrast — where most of the planet's volume and variety of species live — have seen a dramatic decline of about 60 per cent.

The report compares these results to the latest measurements of the size of the ecological footprint — the area of the planet's surface required to provide the resources consumed in a year — of citizens in different countries.

This shows that overall, the Earth's population is consuming the resources of 1.5 planets — or it takes one-and-a-half years to replenish the resources used in one year. This again masks vast differences between the lifestyles of people from mostly poorer countries with footprints of less than one-fifth of a hectare each, and those in the richest nations who each need a nominal five hectares or more. The global average is about three hectares.

“There's going to be global trade and that's not always a bad thing,” said Colin Butfield, head of campaigns for WWF. “[But people] in many subsistence countries depend on their local water source and if upstream you have got a big industrial cotton- or soy-growing plant, we're starting to affect in many many cases around the world the ability for poor people to develop, feed themselves, industrialise, to supply basic products we use every day: soy beans for cattle, cotton for clothing, and so on.” “We're also taking away the natural capital of those countries, and only a small number of people in those countries benefit.” The centrepiece of the biennial Living Planet report, published in collaboration with the Zoological Society of London and the Global Footprint Network, is the Living Planet index, which tracks the decline or increase of nearly 8,000 populations of more than 2,500 different species. The resulting chart of progress over time — likened to a stock-market index — shows how from a base of one in 1970, those populations changed little in the 1970s, declined noticeably in the 1980s and 1990s, and have stabilised at about 0.7 since the early years of this decade.

The real picture is, however, likely to be worse, because the latest report includes new animal populations, and because there are still many tropical species which have not been identified by scientists yet, said Mr. Butfield. The living planet index also does not directly measure other problems such as plant biodiversity, water and air pollution, and the greenhouse gas emissions blamed for climate change — issues more likely to be reflected in the ecological footprint figures.

The report, which is published just weeks before a major conference on slowing or halting the loss of biodiversity in Nagoya, Japan, calls for a series of changes to help address the problems, including more protected areas, zero net deforestation, eliminating overfishing and destructive fishing practices, and finding ways to put a value on biodiversity and ecosystem services. — © Guardian Newspapers Limited, 2010

Japanese Sai Youth

This was the name given during there days camp we had at Tokyo.
I was told to deliver a speech on the topic "Daiva preeti paap Bheeti sangh neeti." i thing it went on well and was well rceieved.
though some of the points were prepared well in advance there was new points which came, while i was giving speech. I told that youth should be shown the glorious picture of the Past of the society in cultural and spiritual way.

later i taught Vedamanuchchharyo mantra. for that i requested for the practice session on other two days which i was given. i think many of the people picked it up quite well.

then during the brain storming session i gave idea of cam,p for youth for a taste of spiritual life. in the later session i gave another suggestion of making a cartoon representative of youth as MC narrator and story teller. this was based on two factors that Japan has become very famous in cartoons and then there were many arists in our group. even a cartoon designer too.

number was very less but people were enthusiastic about it.
Swami bless all.

types of love

There are three examples to illustrate these three types of love. Svaartha or selfish love is comparable to the bulb that illumines just one single small room. This cannot be called love at all. Anyonya Prema is like moonlight. Though it illumines all directions, it is very dim. It does not help one to have a clear perception. You may mistake a rope for a serpent and a stump of wood as human body in moonlight. Similarly, you may mistake a good man to be a wicked one and vice versa due to illusion. But Paraartha Prema is like Sunlight which is very bright and
will not give room for any doubt.

happiness

If free from arrogance, you are loved.
If free from anger, you are free of sorrow.
If free from desires, you gain wealth.
If free from greed, you become happy.

Sin

found a nice quote at

http://www.journeywithspirit.com/christianspirituality_meaning_sin.htm

For me, the religious definition of sin has always held a dual meaning—I am wrong and I am not worthy of God’s love. But when I look at sin from a spiritual perspective, the meaning changes to I missed the mark of my potential this time, but God’s love and grace are always there to guide and remind me of my inner greatness to live a life of integrity. When I am conscious of my actions and their effect upon others, I make choices that reflect my positive intentions.

Santhosh Hegde and bhoopinder hooda

Karnataka Lokayukta Santosh Hegde talked with Indian Express editor Shekhar Gupta. he was talking about the mining lobby. during that talk he said
"The entire area surrounding the mining area is totally devoid of greenery and has no agricultural activity. People there have no other vocation. God knows what will happen to them when the mining is stopped or controlled. None of them goes to school or college. All of them have been provided with a motorcycle, a cellphone and a daily allowance. Their job is to just go around and see if any stranger has come to that area and to report it. The entire area surrounding the mining area is totally devoid of greenery and has no agricultural activity. People there have no other vocation. God knows what will happen to them when the mining is stopped or controlled. None of them goes to school or college. All of them have been provided with a motorcycle, a cellphone and a daily allowance. Their job is to just go around and see if any stranger has come to that area and to report it."

this statement showed deeper malady which is penetrating the society. what does this development hold for the society as whole. in the process of development there is a section who will loot the nature without any regard and then give a petty share to the others for their loyalty and blind following. at the end of it who is the looser. unknowingly we are the looser. we the society, we the culture we the humanity. Educated ones are not better in this respect. they get bigger share in this loot they are happy with emenities provided them. that ends the story for them. they dont care how it is created and how this creation is in fact a destruction. it is like some children taking out the foundation bricks from the edifice to make a dog house. removal of the brick will not be noticed till the building collapse. There are few who will have forewarning of the collapse and even other place to shelter but those are the people who never belong to the building. In fact they never belongs to any place. they belong to themselves then to the money and thento few counted family members and friends. What about the people who loved the land passionately and had invested their everything thing making that building. they will die with teh collapse of building. the price of that burial ground will allowed to fall and then again it will be bought by a person with lot of money and no love for land. he will make a building and sell it at exorbitant price. he will get what he loved- money. but what about others. no thoughts. we cannot blame the money lovers. but the land lovers are to be blames for letting down their love for the land. love also means being ever vigilant for the object of love. doing everything for it. not for the glory but for the love.

Then i came across the interview with Bhupinder Hooda, CM of Harayana. He has been praised by many for his policy to for land acquisition.

It was titled , "Why should farmers always remain farmers? They should be given other opportunities"

That attracted my attention. Few expert from his interview

-Absolutely. Generation to generation, kya unhi ke naam likha hua hai ki wohi zameen ke saath rahenge? (Why should farmers always remain farmers?). They should also be given opportunities. They should also be treated as other citizens are treated.-

Thank god the original Hindi sentence was also provided and we are not left at the mercy of the biased and little knowledge reporter to enlighten us with the meaning. the translation is bad. it should have been " where it is written that they only have to remain with land". It was told later that they consider land to be their life line. what could be the other meaning of the sentence that that it is no where written that since they have been farmer for all along the generation they have right over the land. we will decide what is to be done with the land beacuse we are policy maker and we are the intelligent. Inside their heart they are waiting for thetime they can grab the land.
Once they get hold of oxygen cylinder they will tell why one has to breath in the fresh air. air has pollution. goverment will controll air. they will purify it and give it to you. if i say that i want to use this air because this is vital for me. they said that see even with so much of air people die. sometime they suffocate inside water and die. but if you take oxygen cylinder you will not die even inside water due to lack of oxygen. apart from that this is made highly purified. there is no polutant. i may say that my family cannot afford this expensive cylinder. tthey said fine they will give me the licence to use the oxygen cylinder for some time, which we consider is your life time. i was left confused while the gas mask was put on my face. if i protest it will be taken away. and i will die. many of my neighbour have already put on. they are jumping in joy.

Because land is their capital.

Yes, that is their capital. For an industrialist, his capital are his industries. He develops them. So, a farmer should also be given opportunities. If he fetches a good price for his land, then he can do something else also. His children should also be able to put up some industries. His children should also have better education. What I mean is that farmers should be treated at par with other citizens.

so what effectively you have done? you have taken capital from farmers and increased capital of the industrialists. you say them to become industrialist, with that 33000/ per year along with apeice of land which he may have to give way to make the road broader so that the bigger car of the industrialist can safely take turn. you never treat farmer at the par with other citizen. you demean them. you dont like them. you love industrialists. you want everyone to convert to industrialist.

Have you found farmers responding favourably? Have people come and thanked you and said, ‘Choudhary saab yeh theekh kiya’?

Everyone is happy and the policy we brought in Haryana is being appreciated by our leaders too.

who are happy? even a drunkard looks happy. but any same man knowns thatthat happiness last all long as the alcohol has controll over him. after the intoxication is over he will realize that he is in worse situation than he was before drinking. but dont worry he will get addicted to drinking and will submit everything he own fo rthe few peg you will offer.

Mr Hooda, two problems remain even in Haryana. First, people say in Gurgaon, Mr Hooda gives us Rs 1.03 crore per acre. He also gives us an annuity. But he gives this land to a developer. The state has the power to change land use. So the moment the land use is changed to commercial or residential use and a 60-storey building is allowed, the value of this land becomes Rs 10 crore per acre. Why am I not getting a part of that arbitrage?

I must clarify, the government never gives land to a developer. HUDA develops it. Developers purchase directly from the farmers. In fact, a licence is given in collaboration with the farmers.

all thsi appears more like technicality to confuse the people in place of being staright and honest.

The point is that agricultural land becomes residential or commercial when you approve it. When that happens, the value of the land goes from x to 5x. Is the farmer getting a part of that arbitrage?

Yes, we have an oustees policy. We give them an alternative plot, some small commercial plot also.

Yo always ahave alternative policy for farmer why not for youself and your industrial friends.

The second problem is of social impact. I know some are very smart farmers who use a part of their money to buy a car and a house but with the rest of it, they go to Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh or even up to Manipur and buy a much larger parcel of land and start cultivating there. In your experience, what percentage of farmers are able to do this and what percentage squander away that money?

As far as farmers from Haryana are concerned, I think most of them go and purchase land in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh. When I go to Chhattisgarh, there are lots of farmers whose land has been acquired, purchased. So I think more than 90 per cent people...

Buy other land?

Buy a car also and that is right. They also have the right to own a car.

so the care is what a farmer need? that is the conclusion by you. farmer need land. what have you done by giving him money is that. he will go and buy large track of land in poor people. making them landless and slave for you in turn. this is much vicious cycle then thought of.

So he gets the money and, say, a multi-storied apartment complex comes up on his land. This farmer, meanwhile, has moved to the hinterland of the same area. They feel like social outcasts. Two worlds come up within the same environment.

That is right but with that, if they get a good price and a good rehabilitation programme, they’ll raise their living standards.

But you are not looking at the possibility to bring them into this development so that they also get an apartment there.

That’s also there because we are allotting plots to them. The plot is given to the farmer according to the size of his land acquired. Small shops are also being allotted to them.

And why must he be condemned to earning Rs 15,000-Rs 20,000 per acre?

He should also be given opportunities, better prospects in life.

Mr hooda he was earing more than that from every acre every ear. you have robbed him of his money and made few people rich. you take taken their blood and pumped in others to make them fat. realize that system cannot go on for longer like this.

Why is this annuity for 33 years?

Because I think that is one generation. Because an old man who has land in his name and his land is acquired, what happens if the money goes to his children? He is left with nothing and so he depends on his children. Suppose there is annuity, then his children will also look after him. He will have confidence in himself.
who has decided this 33 years. it is not about a person. it is about family. ot is about village. it is about culture. it is about sensitivity and it is about honesty. all that was worth 15 K for 33 years.

Quoting Swami

Once Rakhal Chandra Ghosh ( who later became Swami Brahmananda) was crossing river to meet Ramakrishna. Boat man used very hards words for Ramakrishna. Rakhal was pained by his words but kept quite. That day Ramkrishna chided Rakhal for not telling even a word in favour his Guru. Narendra nath Datta ( who later became Swami Vivekananda) was also listening to it. after few days when he was crossing the river the boatman again started talking rubbish about Ramakrishna. Narendra caught hold of boatman and threatened to throw him in the river if he did not stop his nonsense. Boatman was petrified seeing the muscular man speaking like that. Unfortunately Narendra was also rebuked by Ramakrishna for being to harsh to people who oppose.
It is very difficult to understand the ways of divine people. Quoting them to support their logic should be avoided at any cost.
Why did I say narrate this? I narrated this because I saw a wire post which read.
Swami's take on Ayodhya issue (in the year 1993) to BJP, VHP, RSS leaders in Parthi "Lord Rama's Janmabhumi is Mother Kaushalya's womb"

That was not only in 1993 but latter too Swami seems to have said that. Beasue I joined later and I have heard it myself. Swami told this In discourse. One of the leader had asked Swami “ Swami! if you say that the place we are fighting is not the birthplace of the Lord Ram we will give up claim.” What a golden opportunity for the controversy to die. But Swami told that Mother Kaushalya’s womb is the birthplace of Ram.
Now people will make meaning from it. Swami did not support or oppose the opinion that Ram was born in that place or not. But people will not miss a chance to give meaning to it.
What I understood is that the controversy and time was not worth intervention. That is a man mad controversy and should be resolved by them.

I remember one boy was giving speech during morning prayer session and he too quoted this. I could understand his tone. I have seen people becoming very subjective while discussing.
How about another quote from Swami
“There was a time every villager revered temples now to get one temple built one has to fight so much.”
That day another guests had arrived.
I did not understand the inclusion of words like to BJP, VHP and RSS leader. Even without those words Swami’s take would have had similar effect. But then, I have got used to the tone and adjectives used while listening to this combination of words.
We have been taught to see the world in black and white. What happens to grey? They can be termed black and white depending on the viewers. Unfortunately, most of the world is grey colour. That leaves great freedom to paint anybody in any colour. The problem is as stated by a scholar, which Today I happen to read a quote.
Most human beings have an almost infinite capacity for taking things for granted.
- Aldous Huxley

I remember a song which was taught to us
Yah matribhumi meri…,
It still resonates once in while in my memory lane. That was song which one of the leader sang in front of Swami and Swami had liked it. he told students to learn and sing during next Gurupurnima. How many of our brothers will feel uncomfortable in knowing that the song is one from the RSS shakha collection.
What I want to say is that when there is controversy we should not quote Swami to support our logic. Somebody who might have read more might quote Swami in opposition too.

We have specific task with this site. And I think we should limit ourselves to that. The lakshman rekha should not be crossed. I am part of another email group. There too I have seen that slowly the line starts getting blurred and it vanishes at one point of time. Humor changed to jokes and jokes metamorphose into stereotypes. But with time, everything looks justified. There was one boy who constantly opposed such transgression of limit. People may not have liked his words but I developed appreciation for it.
Another thing which we have been told to avoid is politics. I don’t think that means that one should not have interest in politics. We are free to have our opinion, after all, many of us go for voting for particular candidate and parties, when election arrives. Similar other issues should also be avoided.
Most of us regularly go through newspapers and channels. Many of us hardly realize that without any exception all of them have bias in their reporting. News should be taken with pinch of salt. Thank God our message board is not oscillating as per the tide of news appearing in the newspaper and channels.
While I used word like avoid. I am not for, which is more from outside, and rather for self restriction. Even that is not as dangerous as quoting Swami in that matter. I have learnt from Swami that the reply to such controversies is not to involve into that but let taking attention away from it. When the question was asked to Swami He took the attention away from it. he did not answer in favor and nor in opposition.
